Editorial Review
Don’t let something as inconsequential as nightfall or even total darkness stop you from having fun shooting Nerf projectiles all over the place. This Nerf weapon is built for nighttime maneuvers, featuring eight glow-in-the-dark darts that can either be loaded up for rapid fire or stored on the back of the weapon for later use. Some parts light up with a soft glow thanks to a pair of AA batteries that are required but not included. The batteries don’t effect the gun’s charging, which is still done by pump action. The range of the projectiles didn’t quite reach 30 feet as promised on the box but we still had an awful lot of fun shooting Nerf darts across a darkened room. --Charlie Williams

Hasbro Transformers Ultimate Bumblebee Figure

The Hasbro Transformers Ultimate Bumblebee Figure is the premium movie-based Transformers toy on the market. Standing more than 14 inches tall, this action figure is more than deserving of the title "Ultimate." With his sleek design, his battle and conversation sounds, and his advanced animatronics system, Ultimate Bumblebee is one of the most fully featured action figures you'll ever find.

The Bumblebee fully featured action figure delivers animatronics and sounds.

Bumblebee's car form is as detailed and well built as any model car.

Two Awesome Modes
Recommended for ages five and up, Ultimate Bumblebee is perfect for toy collectors and kids alike. Initially, Ultimate Bumblebee appears as a sleek 2008 Camaro. With its vivid yellow finish and racing stripes, Ultimate Bumblebee's car form is as detailed and well built as any model car and would be a perfect addition to a cabinet or dresser top. The car is able to roll freely on carpet and hard surfaces alike.

However, like all Transformers, there is more to Ultimate Bumblebee's Camaro form than meets the eye. When it is time for him to come out of disguise and confront his enemies, he can transform into a massive, powerful robot. Equipped with a plasma cannon, he is more than prepared to defend your local Autobot from Decepticon attacks.

With a few minor adjustments, kids can transform Ultimate Bumblebee seamlessly between his robot and his vehicle mode. His robot mode stands an impressive 14 inches, and is fully articulated, meaning that kids can adjust him into any pose. He is also incredibly detailed -- likely one of the most attractive action figures your aspiring heros will ever get their hands on.

Advanced Animatronics and Sounds
Ultimate Bumblebee features an advanced animatronic design, which means he can move and animate himself when in robot mode. With the touch of a button, he'll burst into motion. His head moves expressively from side to side, and his arms and wings both move up and down. He can even aim his plasma cannon and fire off his missile.

Perhaps most impressively, he has full sound detection capabilities. He will respond to noises by turning and making sounds of his own. In addition to his animatronics and motion, Ultimate Bumblebee can also make a variety of exciting sounds. This ever-vigilant Autobot has 17 different heroic conversation phrases, such as "Let's roll out!" and "Take that, Decepticon!" He also makes battle sounds -- kids will hear the firing of his plasma cannon and the whirring, crushing sound of his movements. He'll even boogie as he plays Devo's popular song, "Whip It."

About Transformers
The Transformers began as a Hasbro toy line back in 1983, featuring toy vehicles that could transform into robots. The toys soon inspired an entire universe of fictional story lines, pitting the two factions of Transformers -- the heroic Autobots and the evil Decepticons -- against one another. A live-action movie based on the Transformers was released in 2007 and has continued the toy line's extreme popularity. With toys such as the Ultimate Bumblebee Figure, kids can bring home the struggle between the Autobots and Decepticons.

EyeClops Night Vision Infrared Stealth Goggles

Amazon.com Review
Enjoy the thrill of real night vision technology with EyeClops Night Vision stealth goggles! These super stealth goggles allow kids ages eight and older to see in absolute darkness using infrared illumination so they can explore the dark landscape around them. These fun goggles are the perfect companion for slumber party sleep-overs or camp-outs.

Red LEDs can be turned on or off for maximum surveillance or for stealth.

Soft rubber ensures a secure and comfortable fit.

Darkness Is Your Ally...
With the EyeClops Night Vision goggles, your child can explore dark environments with advanced infrared technology. Set-up is easy. Simply insert five AA batteries into the battery pack at the back of the head-set, and slide the power switch to turn on the goggles. Once the screen display lights up inside of the right eye-piece, you can fit the goggles to your child's head by adjusting the soft rubber straps around top and sides.

EyeClops Night Vision goggles come equipped with a hinged, flip-up eye-piece that can be opened when the goggles are turned off, or closed when the goggles are in use. Your child can choose between the maximum surveillance mode which emits a barely-visible ring of red LEDs around the eyepiece so they can see up to 50 feet in absolute darkness, or go for the stealth mode to remain completely invisible while they explore the dark landscape immediately around them. A small switch on the side of the goggle head-set allows them to switch from a black-and-white to a green screen display.

Enhance Your Nighttime Stealth Operations
The futuristic design of the durable plastic head-piece adds to the fun of these exciting night vision goggles. Soft rubber molding around the goggles and adjustable straps across the top and sides makes them comfortable and easy to wear.

While the EyeClops Night Vision goggles provide a crisp, clear image of dark landscapes, they should always be used under adult supervision. Because the display screen is small and provides limited peripheral vision, these goggles should only be used in environments that are free of potential tripping hazards. As a nice safety feature, the goggles' handy flip-up eye-piece over the left eye provides immediate access to normal vision if your child becomes disoriented or needs to take a break from viewing through the small display screen located in the right eye-piece.

Durable and lightweight, these fun goggles work so well that you might just find yourself borrowing them from your child so you can have your turn enjoying some super stealth, covert nighttime missions of you own!

LEGO Mindstorms NXT

List Price: $249.99

Sure, Mindstorms NXT is a toy, but it is an important toy, like a piano or a chemistry set. It's one of those items that engages an imagination and possibly opens doors to new interests. Since our future is surely to be shared with robots--it's already started happening, just look at Roomba--those robots will need, at least initially, humans to program and maintain them. Those people, years from now, will likely remember their experiences with Lego Mindstorms.

Out of the Box
The main part of the kit is the NXT itself. It's about the size of an iPod (though a bit thicker) with a a loudspeaker, a monochrome LCD, and navigation keys on the front. This is the controller for the robot--it's brain, if you will. It has three ports on top for connecting to the servo motors and four ports on the bottom for connecting to four different sensors: Touch, Light, Sound, and Ultrasonic (see detail below).

The NXT: the computer-controlled brain of the Mindstorms robot Touch Sensor: enables the robot to feel and react to its environment Sound Sensor: enables the robot to react to sound Light Sensor: can detect light and color Ultrasonic Sensor: allows the robot to measure distance and react to movement Servo Motors: ensures the robot moves with precision

The set includes Ethernet-like wires for connecting all of these to the NXT, as well as software and a basic USB cable for downloading programs from your computer. Then there are all the Lego parts, hundreds of them, and most are very small. It would be a good idea to get a plastic organizer for the different parts--it would not only make construction and storage easier but also part loss less likely.

Silhouettes in the windows depict scenes from the movie including the scary marionette car, and the joyful coach car where the kids get their fill of hot chocolate and candy. The main characters from the movie are included as articulated figures with turning heads, movable arms, bendable waists and jointed knees. They can be posed and placed on areas of the locomotive, tender and passenger cars to replicate your favorite scenes from the movie.
